The Indonesian island of Bali is full of biodiversity. From sandy coastlines, lush jungle, and mountains, it is no wonder Bali attracts over 5 million tourists per year. Travelers tend to flock to the surf hangouts of Canggu and Seminyak or the central jungle in Ubud. Though, for those looking to escape the crowds and enjoy some of the island’s most magnificent, natural beauty, Northern Bali definitely deserves a spot on your itinerary.

3. Pura Ulun Danu Bratan –

Situated on the shoreline of Lake Bratan, this Shaivite water temple is one of Bali’s most iconic and awe-inspiring places of worship.

4. Kopi Luwak Coffee –

Kopi Luwak is considered to be the world’s most expensive coffee, going for as much as $100/cup at cafes in New York City. What makes this coffee so expensive? A small cat-like animal, Asian civets, selects high-quality coffee cherries to eat and digest. The coffee beans are then collected from their defecation, thus giving it the nickname “poop coffee.” Though don’t be deterred by this odd harvesting process, I can assure you that this is truly the best coffee I have ever had.

5. Munduk Moding Plantation –

This hotel alone is a reason to make the drive up to North Bali. Not only are the suites and villas at this luxury hotel the perfect relaxation oasis, but the hotel’s epic infinity pool appears as though you are a dive away from the clouds. Munduk Moding Plantation is also set on an actual plantation, so guests are able to take advantage of their incredible selection of fresh fruits, vegetable, and of course, Kopi Luwak coffee.

6. Bali Gate –

This gorgeous gate has now become an Instagram photo op sensation. Although this shouldn’t be the only reason for your trip to North Bali, The Handara Golf Course entrance sure does make for a great capture if you are passing by.

7. Banjar Hot Springs –

In the midst of a tropical garden is the sacred hot springs of Banjar. Spend half a day here for both a revitalizing mind, body and spiritual experience.

8. Mount Batur –

For those looking to get active on their holiday, mountain trekking up Mount Batur, a still active volcano, is the perfect adventure outing.
